I help people overcome post-traumatic stress to leave the past behind and heal.

Maybe you can’t seem to understand your emotional responses – are they harming your ability to get things done and connect with people? You may feel hopeless, and like things are not changing, no matter what you try.  Perhaps you feel ashamed or guilty about past experiences, or anxious to go out and always on edge. Whatever it is you are experiencing, you are beginning to notice the impact of this in every part of your life:

I’ll guide you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to trauma therapy comes from a place of compassionate non-judgment on looking at how you survived, and how and where we can bring flexibility to adapt to create a new beginning.

What others have wondered about starting therapy

  • We meet for an assessment, and at the end of this session, I will explain what I think will help, how many sessions and what type of therapy this would require. I will recommend a course of action to get you the support you need.

  • Long-term, open-ended therapy is not the style of therapy I provide. I understand therapy is an expensive investment, so I aim to provide you with the information and tools for you to reach the place you want to be. Once we meet, I will have an idea of how many sessions I would suggest based on your needs. We would regularly check on our goals to make sure we are progressing in a direction you feel good about.

  • If I do not think I can help you, or if I think there is a better specialist for you, I will recommend this to you in the first session and outline my reasoning and suggestions. I have worked with many people with trauma symptomology, so your treatment is targeted to what you are experiencing, based on the evidence-based therapies I am trained in.

  • I am trained in EMDR, CFT, Schema, and DBT – all third-wave, CBT, and evidence-based approaches. More information on each type of therapy can be explained in person or by telephone. Please contact me or visit my blog for more information.
